  • Paving project open house
    An open house on a $3.7 million paving project between Omak and Okanogan is set for this week. According to the State Department of Transportation crews will pave over six miles of State Route 215 from US 97 in Omak through Okanogan to the junction with State Route 20, and two miles from the S.R. 155 Spur. The project, which starts Monday in Okanogan also includes extensive pedestrian improvements. An open house to learn about the project and its impacts is set for Wednesday evening from 5-30 to seven in Okanogan, at the DOT's maintenance facility conference room, 28862 Highway 97. Project Engineer Kevin Waligorski says while they've tried to reduce the impacts, with an average daily traffic count of 13,000 vehicles in that corridor, the project will affect both communities from now through Labor Day.
