  • Fire Fighter Safety A Concern As Eastside Of Carlton Complex Fire Burns Up Against Other Burn Scarred Areas
Containment on the Carlton Complex Fire was slower due to near triple digit temperatures Monday. Fire Information Officer Joe Spivey says containment lines surround 66-percent of the fire with acreage unchanged.  Spivey says the fire's eastern flank is most active as it bumps up against terrain torched by the Tripod Fire Complex of 2006. Spivey says incident command teams will bump up the number personnel Tuesday.  No additional structures have been lost.
  • Fires Flare As Temperatures Rise To 100 Degrees (Mills Canyon and Chiwaukum Complex Fires Update)
Monday's heat wave in the region caused flare ups of a number of fires within the Chiwaukum and Mills Canyon Complexes.  Unchanged at 11-thousand acres, Fire Information Officer Dan O'Connor says the Chiwaukum Creek fire burning between Lake Wenatchee and Leavenworth is moving north. At 25-percent contained, O'Connor says the fire's south and western flank was fairly inactive.  Evacuation alerts in the Coulter Creek area were downgraded to a Level 1.  No word yet on when Hwy 2 will re-open.  O'Connor says the full containment of the Mills Canyon Fire is anticipated to happen within the next few days.  The Kelly Mountain is 75-percent contained with acreage unchanged and the Duncan Fire is at same size reported earlier Monday.
