  • Cashmere Study To Improve Traffic Flows Underway
    Improving traffic flows in the Cashmere area will be the focus of a meeting Tuesday evening at the Riverside Center in Cashmere   Chelan County, the City of Cashmere, the Chelan-Douglas Transportation Council, the Port of Chelan County and the Washington State Department of Transportation are working together on a new transportation study of the three traffic signals along Highway 2/97 that provide access to the city of Cashmere.    Transportation Council manager, Jeff Wilkins says the study will evaluate options for replacing the Goodwin Bridge at the west end of Cashmere.   Wilkins says some options include...   Earlier studies have also proposed a highway interchange to eventually replace the stop lights at Aplets Way and Cotlets Way if accidents increase in the future;    The study began in August, will continue throughout this fall and the goal is to complete the study by mid-December.    A kickoff public meeting is planned for tonight (Tuesday, September 16th) at the Riverside Center from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.  
  • Oroville Man Killed by Falling Tree
    Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the beating death of a Pateros man. Sheriff Frank Rogers says his office was notified Sunday morning about a body that was found at a boat ramp on the Columbia River near Starr Road.    The victim was identified after his cousin reported him missing from his Watson Draw residence. Detectives determined that the death occurred Saturday night at the same address when the victim got into a fight with the four suspects.    The Sheriff says the body had been dumped at the boat launch. No names have been released yet.
